International Project Workshop on “Strengthening China’s Fair Competition Review System: Lessons of International Experience ”

As part of its project on strengthening the implementation of China’s fair competition review system, the Foundation held a 2-days international workshop in Beijing in April 2017. Over 40 experts from Zhong Cai Ban, the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, NDRC, MOFCOM, SAIC, Peking University, University of International Business and Economics, the OECD, the United States Federal Trade Commission, Brussels and Rome participated in the workshop. Professor Wu Jinglian, Vice-chairman Peng Sen and Minister Chen Qingtai (all senior advisors on the project) attended the Workshop. Presentations at the Workshop included those by: senior officials from NDRC, MOFCOM, SAIC; Maureen Ohlhausen (Chair, US FTC) on the US Competition Advocacy Programme; Alberto Heimler (Chairman of the OECD Working Party on Competition and Regulation, and former Research Director of the Italian Competition Authority ) on the OECD Competition Assessment Toolkit and Regulatory Reform; Sir Derek Morris (former Chairman, UK Competition Commission) on the Market Investigation System in the UK; Elisabetta Righini (formerly member of the Cabinet of former EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia) on the EU State Aid Control Regime; Li Qing (NDRC), Huang Yong (UIBE), Susan Ning (Kong Wood & Mallesons) and Chen Yongwei (Peking University) on key issues in China’s competition policy and the Fair Competition Review System.
