International Seminar on “Strengthening Market Competition in China: Some International Perspectives”

As part of its project on “Accelerating China’s Growth by Strengthening Competition: Some International Perspectives”, the Foundation held an international Workshop in Beijing on 18 October 2014. Participants included senior officials from the Anti-Monopoly Law enforcement bureaux of NDRC, MOFCOM, SAIC and Chinese and international experts. Also attending the Workshop were the project’s three senior advisors: Professor Wu Jinglian, Vice-Chairman Peng Sen and Minister Chen Qingtai. Presentations included those by Liu Xiaoxuan (CASS), Huang Yong (UIBE), Susan Ning (King Wood & Mallesons), Ji Weidong (Shanghai Jiao Tong University), Cyril Lin (Cairncross Foundation), Sir Derek Morris (former Chairman of UK Competition Commission), William Kovacic (former Chair and Commissioner of the US FTC) and Willard Tom (formerly Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition, FTC; and Counsellor to the head of the Antitrust Division, US Department of Justice).
